EAYSA Webinar welcomes Wei Azim Hung as our speaker!
Hung is trained in historical and political sociology at the Department of Sociology, University of Cambridge.
His research interests include social theory, postcolonial theory, comparative methods, epistemology, nation-building, state-making, and power elites. His dissertation investigates how Lee Kuan Yew, one of Singapore’s most influential national architects, shaped the country’s nationalizing state following its involuntary separation from Malaysia in 1965. He argues that empires and nation-states are not diametrical opposites but dialectically intertwined in processes of historical change.
Wei is affiliated with the Institute of Sociology at Academia Sinica and was a Chevening Scholar (2024-2025).
