Webinar: From the Editor’s Desk to the Frontiers of Law and National Security: My Path through American Academy

We are going to host a special talk featuring Dah-Wei Yih, an S.J.D. candidate at the University of Virginia School of Law and an Editor at the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology. Dah-Wei will share insights from his academic journey in the United States, reflecting on his dual roles as a law journal editor and a researcher in international law and national security.

He will offer an insider’s view of the U.S. law journal system, including how student-run journals differ from peer-reviewed ones, how articles are selected, and what editorial work entails. He will also discuss his research on how geopolitical competition and the rise of economic statecraft intersect with rule-of-law principles and affect global trade and security governance.

Dah-Wei Yih is an S.J.D. candidate at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he serves as executive editor to the Virginia Journal of Law & Technology and a legal fellow at the LawTech Center. His research focuses on the intersection of international law and national security, with an emphasis on how geopolitical competition implicates global trade and its governance.He is also a student contributor to the Lawfare blog and a non-resident fellow at the Research Institute of Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology (DSET) in Taipei, where he examines how international legal frameworks can respond to emerging economic and security challenges.
