Title:
The Grand Recall and Dynamics of Taiwan’s Party Politics

Summary:
In 2025, Taiwan has become the stage for a wave of powerful grassroots movements aiming to recall over 30 members of the Legislative Yuan. This talk will explore the origins and driving forces behind the so-called Grand Recall Movement, shedding light on the key stakeholders and their motivations. We will also draw comparisons with the 2014 Sunflower Movement, examining both the parallels and the points of divergence. Finally, we’ll delve into the evolving dynamics between Taiwan’s political parties and consider a pressing question: how will this surge in political competition shape the future of Taiwan’s democracy?
