Wen-Wei Lan is a Ph.D. candidate affiliated with the Japan Center of the University of Munich, is dedicated to her research in the historical dimensions of female education, gender dynamics, women bodies and hygiene and medical knowledge within modern Japan and East Asia. Her doctoral research is on Japanese female doctors’ education trajectories and life experience during the Meiji era. Before her enrollment at LMU, she earned her BA in Japanese Language and Culture from Soochow University (Taipei, Taiwan) and completed her MA in Japanese Literature and History studies at the National Taiwan University (NTU). She has also contributed as a research assistant fellow at the Academia Sinica and NTU. In addition, she enjoys hiking and bouldering in her leisure time.
Research interests: Japanese female doctors, knowledge transferring, hygiene, gender, biopolitics
