Youth Symposium: The Intersection of Research, Civil Society, and Young People in East Asia
The University of Tokyo Komaba Campus Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid)
August 22-24, 2025
Q1. What is the 2025 Youth Symposium: The Intersection of Research, Civil Society, and Young People in East Asia ?
The 2025 Youth Symposium: The Intersection of Research, Civil Society, and Young People in East Asia is the first event of its kind, focusing on the role of youth in driving social change in the East Asian region, exploring their potential at the intersection of research activities and civil society. The event promotes the sharing of experiences and knowledge across countries and regions, viewing the political and cultural diversity of East Asian countries as a valuable resource for mutual learning. Beyond academic submissions, the Symposium actively encourages young participants to openly express, share, and engage in discussions, fostering a deeper sense of involvement in advancing human rights collectively. By hosting this event in Tokyo, we aim to provide a convenient venue for students and young scholars in East Asia, or those with a keen interest in Asian human rights issues, to exchange perspectives, ideas, and experiences relevant to their regional context.
